003 I simply adore shipping! I do prefer to have discussions about it ahead of time, but I am very open to it. Babs is not the easiest to become romantic with, despite her flirtatious nature. So, do anticipate some time to build.
I do not condone incest on this blog. This includes the form of adoptive siblings/relatives/parental figures meaning: the Batboys and/or Cass in relationships with each other as they canonically view each other as siblings. With that being said, I do not acknowledge the Babs x Tim relationship in AK game. As stated previously, I do not and am vehemently against Bruce Timm and his need to make Bruce x Barbara a thing. I view Bruce and Barbara's relationship as nearing paternal.

As a young girl, Barbara watched her father play hero. The daughter of a cop, she dreamed of one day being able to make a difference in the world. Her father thought differently. She’s very dedicated to her school work, though not for need as she has Eidetic Memory, making it impossible for her to forget anything.
She takes up a part time job as a librarian, further solidifying her status as a “nerd” among her peers. A rail thin, glasses wearing, freckled, red-head; Barbara didn’t have it easy in High School. She was often bullied for her brains and her appearance. Leaving deep emotional scars that will have a part to play later on in her life.The more Batman’s name came across the papers and the news, the more Barbara felt something stir inside of her. She felt her calling. One day, after following her father up to the roof of the GCPD, she finds him talking to the dynamic duo: Batman and Robin.She decides to take action on her own. At the young age of 16, Barbara makes her first Batgirl suit and goes to a party. There, unbeknownst to the party goers, Killer Moth attacks and Barbara steps in. It’s from this moment on, she fights for her position in the world of vigilantes, mainly for her place in the Batfamily.Barbara spent years under the cape and cowl. It took time, work and dedication to get the respect of other heroes and media. A skinny little nothing who ran on her own looking like a Batman copy cat, soon rising to be one of the greatest in the business.The fame of Batgirl grew and she began to work with some of the greatest in the business. Barbara didn’t function like Batman and Robin. She didn’t have the drive for vengeance the way the other two did. Barbara did this out of pure joy and desire for the greater good of the people of Gotham and the world. Thus giving her a different outlook on the entire scheme of vigilantism.During this time, Dr. Barbara Gordon also worked as the head librarian of the Gotham City public library ( one of the largest libraries in existence ) as well as started building her career path towards running for congress.As the years went on, the life of Batgirl grew increasingly stressful and unfulfilling to Barbara. No matter how many criminals she may “bring to justice” most would end up back in the streets again soon after. It was a repetitive cycle and she knew she needed to break it. Barbara was Batgirl, no more.At the age of 23, Barbara runs for congress and wins. She takes this opportunity to try to help heal Gotham via the judicial system and helped pass legislation that is still in place in later years.

Barbara maintained her seat in Congress and the year she was up for reelection, two years after taking seat in congress, is when tragedy struck. Sadly, one fateful night, Joker decided to test out his theory. In the events of the infamous The Killing Joke, Joker goes to the extreme yet again. He shoots and paralyzes Barbara, stripping her of her clothing and taking nude photographs of her while she lays bleeding out on the floor of her apartment while her father watches. Her pictures are later used to torment her father enough in hopes of pushing to having that one bad day that would push him to insanity, failing in the end.She spends a year in the hospital, undergoing several surgeries just to get her to be able to sit upright in a chair again. She is no longer able to carry child, suffers through depression, PTSD, bouts of anger, and full of bitter resentment. Barbara goes to both physical and psychiatric therapy on a regular basis, even after she is released from the hospital at the age of 26.For a long time, she struggles with what happened to her, with what she lost and what lay before her. She tries to go back to a normal life, but quickly discovers the internet. A place she can create an entirely new world for herself. And she found she was incredibly good at hacking and other tech based things.She later tries to take down a woman, Ashley Mavis Powell, her father was investigating. Only for Ashley to find who Barbara was and throw her into the street to die. Babs falls back into a moment of depression once more, wondering how she can get back into what she knew she was meant to do, and that’s be a hero.Bruce later finds out about this and sends Barbara with a mysterious man in the park. She learns how to find and defend herself. Learning that her chair does not hinder her, so long as she doesn’t allow it to. Barbara finds purpose once more.One night, she has a dream from an all-knowing woman wearing a mask ( not unlike Oracle at Delphi from Greek mythology ), when the woman removes the mask she sees that they have the same face.From then on, Barbara worked to establish herself in the world of computers. Building herself a reputation under the guise of Oracle. After a year of extensive training and work, Babs is able to go out in full force and began working in secret with former allies, though her identity still held secret to them. She works closely with Bruce and the other members of the Batfamily for many years, including a member of JLS, and adviser for JLA and other super heroes/groups.At the age of 29, Barbara creates her own team of female vigilantes known as the Birds of Prey. After many trial and errors, some going tragically wrong, Barb starts the team off with Black Canary ( Dinah Laurel Lance ) and the two become the best of friends. As time goes by, new members join, most notably Huntress ( Helena Bertinelli ) and Lady Blackhawk ( Zinda Blake ). Together, the four ladies make a name for themselves that becomes feared and well known. She still runs and operates the team and continues her work in vigilantism at the age of 35

barbara has created her own elite team of femal heroes. she’d had a tendency to pick up women who were down on their luck and looking for a way back onto their feet. in barbara’s infinite wisdom, she brings these women together. however, babs’ tactics aren’t always the best and it creates a rift between the team. she soon learns how to let go of some control and have more faith in the women around her.

barbara struggles to get back onto her feet, figuratively speaking, until she discovers her knack for computers. always the researcher, barbara dove into the internet and discovered a new world for herself to take control of. the team is unaware of who the mysterious person giving them advice is. it’s warm and familiar, and yet cold and distant all at the same time. only a select few senior members know full well who the oracle is, as well as members of the justice league and batfamily.
this would be a stepping stone for barbara’s career as oracle. a test, if you will, to see how wells he was at leading a team from the sidelines, as well as assist with the justice league and more. at the age she is when she first dawns the persona of oracle, barbara hangs between being a full member of young justice and the justice league, never quite fitting into either. so, she remains in limbo between the two, but she does assist young justice more. seeing as how she’d grown close with the team during her time as a member under the guise of batgirl.

daughter of gotham city’s police commissioner james gordon, barbara first ran into bruce as batman by accident in the gcpd ser room attempting to access the national criminal database. bruce, impressed by her bravery, skills, and knowledge commemorated her but also warned her not to get into this sort of life. barbara being barbara, ignored him and eventually aided batman escape the room while swat barged in.
a few years later, barbara takes on the cape and cowl as the vigilante batgirl. just like any other medium, barbara first takes up the name of batgirl at a gcpd press conference where killer moth attacks and no one else was around at the start to stop him.
in a matter of family, barbara’s father, as well as several other police officers, were kidnapped by the joker and with robin’s ( tim ) help, the two helped defuse the bombs and rescue the hostages. just as the batgirl and robin had harley and the joker cornered, joker escapes on parachute, leaving harley behind.
not long after, barbara’s life as a vigilante was changed. paralyzed by the joker, babs was forced to hang up the cape and cowl. after a year in both physical and psych therapy, barbara was able to begin to live a “normal” life once more. but she never ot the drive to fight and protect people out of her. she takes up the alias of oracle and uses her brains to fight against gotham’s underground and continue her aid with the bat family in this crusade to save the city.
barbara played a heavy part in the arkham incident. she aided bruce in tracking down arkham knight’s movements, found schematics of his weapons and artillery and more. barbara was a major threat to arkham knight’s operation, making her a target. if the knight had been anyone other than jason, none would be the wiser as to who oracle was or where she was located, but seeing as how jason and barbara were close before he was seemingly killed by the joker he found it easy to locate and capture her.

Daughter of Gotham's Police Commissioner, Barbara always had a special interest in a combo of research and justice. Her analytical skills helped elevate her ability in detective work and caught the attention of many would be criminals. Her father's very open door and accessible policy left the family vulnerable and one day nearly took the life of Barbara. Months of recovery later, Babs began to learn how to live a normal life, but her desire to work and help improve the city never stopped. She rediscovered a way to keep herself protected and safe while honing in on her research skills and technology. Soon, she learned how to siphon income from some of the city's biggest crime lords in order to build herself her own workstation hidden away in a clocktower. Codename Oracle was soon born.

During her younger years, Barbara had fallen madly in love with the former Boy Wonder. The pair became a dynamic duo, fighting crime across Gotham and Blüdhaven until Barbara had found the work to be too circular for her taste. During the day she'd attended school and gotten her political science degree with her masters in computer science. She used this with her knowledge of the criminal underworld to start a movement in Gotham city and run for congress. By 24, she was elected and began implementing changes into the city. Slowly suffocating much of Gotham city's criminal underworld as she'd hoped.Within her first year of term, she'd discovered something of a surprise. She was pregnant and 9 months later, Barbara and Dick welcomed their son Johnny Thomas Grayson.Barbara continued her work in congress for the next year, in part from home, while on maternity leave. One night, she opened the door to who she thought was her friend, Colleen. The pair had planned a meet and greet. Only it wasn't her friend.That night, Barbara's life changed forever. It took over a year of recovery in the hospital and several operations later for Barbara to be able to sit upright again. Several months still to learn to navigate the world with her new life.Depression hit her hard. It was difficult to learn how to do the basic things in life, let alone take care of her son. Luckily she had the help of many old colleagues, masked and unmasked.Soon Barbara learned how to take on the world again. She found a new purpose in life once more using all the things she already knew how to do and do better than anyone else. She creates the persona of Oracle and continues her work fighting Gotham's criminal underworld once more while raising her son.
